A Little About ROYCETON GOMES MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT.

Royceton Gomes, Belgaum City's Most prestigious School Level Football tournament which is held every year in the fond memory of Royceton Gomes, a 3rd Standard Student of St Pauls high School.

It was 25th August 1979 whe
n Royceton passed away in an unfortunate accident while he had been to picnic at Gokak Falls.

Royceton had love for the football game hence in 1980 Royceton’s father along with his friends started a football tournament in memory of his son for under 14 aged students.

This tournament has grown and is now the Belgaum's Most awaited and prestigious football tournament for School Children as well as the football lovers.

The Tournament is conducted in 2 Phases.
1. Invitation Cup
   Teams from Belgaum, Goa, Mumbai, Kolhapur and other neighboring Cities Come for this tournament.6 Schools Participate with 2 Schools from Belgaum city and 4 other Schools from neighboring Cities.The Tournament is played in league + knockout format .

2. Memorial Cup
This Tournament is conducted only for the local Schools from Belgaum City.
At end of tournament every year the teams are ranked from 1 to 22.
Qualifying round is played between previous years teams i.e team ranked from 11 to 22.
Top 2 teams qualify for the Main Tournament .
With the previous year’s top 10 ranked teams and the 2 qualified teams, the Memorial tournament kicks off between 12 teams. This tournament is played in league+knockout format.
